THE RESILIENT INDIAN

Today, the country relives the frightening 60hr ordeal that had traumatised the entire nation and had everyone of us in tenterhooks. This inauspicious date marks an year since the fateful 26/11/2008 ,when time mercilessly took our near, dear and beloved ones by forcing on us unrelenting pain and sorrow. It appended another bloody and inglorious chapter to the pages of history.Despite its best efforts to garner global support in the fight against terror and to isolate the countries that have been promoting it, very little seems to have been done by our government in preempting a future strike and beefing up the internal security. Our public places,
be it a market place or a railway platform still remain vulnerable spots and soft targets for another attack.within a year after the attack terrorist masterminds like David coleman headley and Tahawur Rana had the blueprint ready for another attack. The recent blasts in Assam underscores the need for an effective security system .verbal assurances apart, the govt needs to look into these pressing matters that have been glaring upon us

The spirit of resilience of our nation has always amazed me..Resilience is an inbred mechanism in every Indian. Bloody wars have been fought here, powerful explosions have ripped through its heartland killing its brave sons and daughters.communal carnage have taken place, people have been divided on racial and linguistic
lines.Even after 60 of independence there exists a million reasons strong enough to undermine even the strongest of empires,Still she endures.Resilience is a virtue that is ingrained in us, we have learned the hard way out.Undaunted by problems, unbenting in the face of crisis and with an uncrushed spirit, steely resolve and unwavering dedicatin lets wow to make our country a safe and better place

  1. ..... nOVEMBER 26... has been an unfortunate event in pages of Indian history. But what puzzled me all the day was the MEDIA.......... was making business out of it. Even sentimental stories showing weeping relatives was tuned with pathetic music records to add more flavour... Even its first anniversary was made much like a cinematic event..... I pity this atitude.... By Amal.C.R..

  3. Resilience! yes, truly an Indian quality. We are taught to tolerate. Right from childhood. Dont talk back to adults...even if it means expressing your opinion actually. In the name of showing respect, we are taught to tolerate, simmer our thoughts and feelings inside.
So, as we grow up, we see things around us and we are told to just look the other way. The law and the order, makes it worse. Protest, and you are a gonner! We are afraid of all those police harrassments and those inevitable lawsuits that work like a whirlpool...could suck you up and life's gone. So, just tolerate man! Just luk the other way. Just arrange for some money and cover up.
All this has made us Indians resilient like Super Glue!!!
So, an Indian gets a call on mob....watch tv....bomb explosion in station....media...stories....tales....tearjerker intended interviews....more mob phones ringing....somewhere in between, while the person who has lost his life is gone and the person whose leg and hand got ripped apart is wondering what happened.....our Indian at home has to get off the tv and make dinner, or to get back to teaching the kids u see.....arey yaar, life goes on na? Has to go on. That's what we were taught.

Hey...err...'Thinkingman...' (sorry, i have to call you that coz i dont know your name) great ideas. And with this one, you have touched a really sensitive spot. Something that makes me seethe with fury. @ Amal, you are absolutely right too. Pathetic media!
So, what do we do? It is in the hands of the young. We have massive power waiting to be unleashed in our youth. But they are busy trying out alcohol n drugs n disco and cigarettes etc....aping the americans. And who wants to get into 'politics'? This is the attitude. Agreed it is a pathetic situation. But it has to change isnt it? Imagine the potential combo of enlightened youth and a far-reaching media! Why not think of change from within?
Can we start by not accepting things so easiy? Protesting, with due respect to adults and the right kind of rules, against what isnt right? Starting the change within ourselves? Am reminded of that tv ad promoted by TATA tea...jaagore.

Incidentally, there is this site www.jaagore.com
Began by a group of some awakened ex-IITians in Chennai. You can visit and join the call for change.

Sorry, 'Thinkingman...', to take liberties with your blog and just shoot off my thoughts so vehemently but i blame it on you...you wrote so well!!!! :) So, let's hope for some more soon. Other posts, also good.

  4. For starters, let's tackle the dowry issue in Kerala. The change has to come from the boys! Come on, would be bridegrooms.....can you put your foot down and say no to dowry??? Think! Of what worth are you, if your married life rests on a foundation built on dowry earnings? Of what worth your education? Your parents have brought you up. Sent you to good schools and colleges and helped you with a good career choice. You are EDUCATED!!! And yet, many of you succumb to this weak moment of bribing??? Say NO to DOWRY. Be a MAN! What say?
